Who Should Not Use Cold Sore Treatment (Valacyclovir)
- Known allergy to valacyclovir or acyclovir
- Severe kidney impairment without dose adjustment
Warnings & Precautions
Start Early
Most effective when started at the first sign or symptom (tingling, itching, burning). Starting late reduces effectiveness.
Still Contagious
Even with treatment, herpes can still be transmitted. Avoid kissing or sharing utensils during outbreaks.
