Important Safety Information
Ozempic (semaglutide) is a once-weekly injectable GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes management and widely prescribed under clinical supervision for weight management. A prescription and regular provider monitoring are required.
Emergency: If you experience chest pain, severe shortness of breath, a prolonged painful erection (over 4 hours), or sudden vision/hearing loss — call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
Thyroid Risk
As with all semaglutide products, risk of thyroid C-cell tumors exists based on animal data. Contraindicated in those with family or personal history of MTC.
Pancreatitis
Acute pancreatitis, including fatal and non-fatal hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis, has been observed. Discontinue and do not restart if pancreatitis is confirmed.
Diabetic Retinopathy Complications
Rapid improvements in glycemic control may worsen retinopathy in diabetic patients. Ophthalmologic monitoring is recommended.
Renal Effects
Acute kidney injury has occurred due to dehydration from GI adverse events. Maintain hydration and monitor renal function.
