Wegovy Pen (Semaglutide Injection)
Prescription MedicationWegovy (semaglutide) injection is an FDA-approved once-weekly subcutaneous injection for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition. It is administered via an auto-injector pen and requires provider prescription and clinical oversight.
Emergency: If you experience chest pain, severe shortness of breath, a prolonged painful erection (over 4 hours), or sudden vision/hearing loss — call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
Who Should Not Use Wegovy Pen (Semaglutide Injection)
- Patients with personal or family history of MTC or MEN 2
- Known hypersensitivity to semaglutide
- Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals
- Patients with prior severe hypersensitivity reactions to GLP-1 agonists
Warnings & Precautions
Thyroid Risk
As with all semaglutide products, there is a potential risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Discuss personal and family history with your provider.
Acute Pancreatitis
Discontinue immediately if acute pancreatitis is suspected. Do not restart without thorough provider evaluation.
Suicidal Ideation
Monitor for new or worsening depression, suicidal thoughts, or behavioral changes. Report any such symptoms to your provider immediately.
Injection Site Reactions
Rotate injection sites with each weekly dose to minimize local reactions including nodules, bruising, and discomfort.
Common Side Effects

- Nausea and vomiting (especially during titration)
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Abdominal discomfort
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Injection site reactions
- Dizziness
Drug Interactions
Always inform your provider of all medications, supplements, and substances you are currently taking.
- Oral medications requiring precise GI absorption (e.g., levothyroxine, oral contraceptives)
- Insulin or insulin secretagogues — hypoglycemia risk
- Other GLP-1 or GIP/GLP-1 agonists — do not combine
When to Contact Your Provider
- Severe or persistent nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
- Any changes in mood, depression, or thoughts of self-harm
- Rapid or irregular heartbeat
- Vision changes
- Signs of allergic reaction including rash or difficulty breathing
